It was only a few minutes that had passed and even without taking my eyes away from the tabloid, I can already feel that someone was walking towards the kitchen. I quickly gave a glance at a shirtless man while sweat dripped down from his body as he headed to the refrigerator. He took the whole water pitcher and quietly drank it while blatantly staring at me. I could still hear his heavy breathing.
"Good morning Attorney Kaia Luminaire. You're up early again. Let me guess, you're going to the office?"
I ignored his question as I rolled my eyes.
'Wasn't it obvious? Where should she go then other than the office? To a beach?'
"Is it that hard to pour water from a glass cup?" I coldly said to him, not removing my sight from the tabloid. "Next time, I'll put every label on my containers so that you should know which container to drink. May I remind you for the last time, I hate sharing with others especially to those who are prone to viruses."
I didn't got any answer from him although he just smirked at me. I don't want to entertain him further, it would just ruin my whole day. One thing I hate about him the most is that he always ignores my rules and does everything in his own way. He doesn't listen to every complaint I make. But even after everything, I'm not tired of always reminding him. He's such an unclassy, rude, insensitive, womanizer, and a spoiled guy. You would think also think he didn't come from a rich and decent family!
"It's too early in the morning and yet you're already grumpy. Let me guess, you lost your client in the property settlement, right?" He teasingly said to me.
He was putting cereal on a bowl and pouring fresh milk unto it then he sat down near me so I got up from my seat and sat away from him.
"I don't want my nose to suffer from your after sex smell," I frankly told him. "Also, can you please put on a shirt? This is a kitchen, not your bedroom. Have some decency."
He smiled again while playing with his cereal, "You know the reason why you can't attract a man?" He ate a spoonful of cereal before continuing, "It's because you don't have any single strand of lust in your body." He straightforwardly said to me staring into my eyes.
I put down the tabloid and push my eyeglass which fell down on my nose and looked straight at his eyes avoiding to see his naked body.
"As much as you worship sex, I despise it when someone talks about my personal life," I sternly said to him while remaining to look calm.
He raised out both his hands, "Okay, I give up your honor! I was just teasing you. If I proudly announce to you that I'm going to give you a huge amount of settlement on our annulment day, will that lighten your mood?"
I sighed heavily. I give up with this guy, lately, sighing has become a habit of hers whenever she's with this guy.
"Mister LaSalle, there is no such thing as property settlement in a fake marriage and especially there will be no annulment happening just in case you forgot."
Everyone, meet my fake husband, Vaughn LaSalle. He's a year older than me and the youngest child of one of the Bank CEO's. He's considered to be the black sheep of his family. While all of his siblings already have their own businesses, this guy is still busy clubbing, sleeping with different women, and extravagantly spends all of their family wealth on useless things.
Whether you believe it or not, I'm living in the same roof with this despicable guy for ten months already because in the eyes of others and even with our family, we are married.
I can't believe why I was the first one who brought up this stupid idea. I usually see him when we're still teenagers since my parents and his parents were good friends but as days passed, I seldom see him anymore until I heard from my parents that he flew abroad to study there. Then everything started when our parents recently arranged a blind date for us.
Sure he was good looking and sexy but when I took one look at him, I already sensed that he's a womanizer, arrogant, and being a spoiled brat even though he's already an adult.
I don't want to be one-sided about my perception of him so I guess he saw some dislikable things about me too. Even though I was fully dressed on the day of our blind date, I didn't even get a hint from him that he was impressed with me the whole time of our date and after living with him for a while, I finally understood why.
He has a different taste of women that he likes to entertain with. I can proudly say this since the kind of women he brings into my home all have the same characteristics. He likes those who are wild and likes to scream in bed from the moment they enter his room.
Despite all that, he has some common sense too because he quickly grasped my practical nature and since our parents were so keen on us getting together, my parents offered to give me my own law firm. While Vaughn's parents promised him a regular allowance from their family business without him having to lift a finger, as long as he agrees to marry me. Plus, his family even promised him his own real estate company after just one year of marriage with me.
Because of these tempting offers, Vaughn came up with a plan and proposed a deal with me. He asked for a civil marriage just to show our parents some proof that we're married. But because I believe in being practical and that fairy tales don't exist, I came up with a bolder idea. A fake marriage with a fake registration and a fake couple. I know this will risk my professional license from being revoked but what can I do? I'm a bold person. i believe that no one can stop me from doing this.
After all, I'm one of the most sought family lawyer if I can't even use my wit. I needed this deal because I want to chase my dream, to have my own law firm. Ambition is all the drives me now, nothing else.
